One  of the most widespread ladybugs found in the Americas is the convergent ladybugs. They typically eat a variety diet in the wild. Convergent ladybugs can eat spider mites, aphids, and yes, even moth eggs. But they are also known to eat nectar and honeydew. These insects taste bitter to most insectivores that eat ladybugs, and that is why they have nature's warning color of red on their backs.

Here at Spencer's Butterfly Fairy Museum, we display convergent ladybugs in their natural cage habitat. Like the butterflies and moths, we release ladybugs in the wild where they can forage and eat their diet. Typically the museum curators give the ladybugs honey dew instead of aphids.
