Spencer Mcfield Sheppard is the author that bring this story to life. He did most of the writing and illustrating in The Butterfly Fairy. He himself is an avid nature lover and helps the pollinator population in his hometown of Warwick NY by raising butterflies of various species.

Joyce Sheppard is the second author of TBF. She helped Spencer edit his story and helped to research the different natural landscapes, diversity of butterflies, and fairy mythology associated with The Butterfly Fairy.
